Received my PhD with Dr. S. Falkow at the University of Washington on plasmids and conjugation in N. gonorrhoeae. Was a Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory with Dr. J. Setlow. Did a postdoctoral Fellowship in the Dividion of Infectious Diseases Childrens Hospital on antibiotic resistance in H. influenzae with Dr. A.L. Smith. Was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Leicester, England working on chloramphenicol acetyltransferases from H. influenzae with Dr. W. Shaw. Currently I am a Professor in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine. My main interests including tetracycline, macrolide, lincosamide and stregtogramin antibioitc resistances and S. mutans biology as well as examining whether silver amalgams influnece the carriage of antibiotic and/or Hg resistant genes in the normal oral flora. |
